Russian Premier League football club Zenit St Petersburg has introduced facial recognition technology at its Gazprom Arena home ground.
The technology will be used to allow fans entry in to Stand D at the stadium, where the Zenit Supporters’ Association Fan Virazh is located.
The Fan Virazh is only accessible by existing season ticket holders and the technology will be in use for all matches played at the Gazprom Arena.
The technology was introduced for Saturday’s home match against Lokomotiv Moscow, which finished 0-0.
Gazprom Arena opened in 2017 ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The stadium is due to host four matches during this summer’s UEFA European Championships and will also stage the UEFA Champions League final in 2021.
