BookMyShow survey shows consumers keen to return to entertainment

A survey by BookMyShow has found that 40 per cent of Indians would prefer attending a music concert in smaller groups of 50-100 after COVID-19 restrictions are eased.

The report, titled Back To Out-of-Home Entertainment, shows that drive-in concerts and intimate tables for two to four people are some of the features fans would most like to see while attending events.

The survey features 4,000 respondents who are active BookMyShow customers, aged between 18-65 years, across 235 cities and towns in India.

For cinemas, 54 per cent said they would be keen to see a film within 15-90 days after the lockdown is lifted while the rest would prefer to go after 90 days.

The survey also showed that male respondents were more interested to go to the cinema sooner as compared to females.

Almost all respondents – 98 per cent – said they expect cinemas to implement strict safety and hygiene measures, while 99 per cent would want staff trained in such measures and in deep cleaning of cinemas, seats and restrooms after each show.

BookMyShow also found that 69 per cent are looking forward to big-ticket releases, while 81 per cent want new ticket offers. More than half of respondents said they are unlikely to pay for higher ticket costs in cinemas if social distancing forces theatres to operate at limited capacities.

In addition, 85 per cent of those surveyed said they would prefer purchasing their tickets online with the M-ticket & e-ticket option being preferred for a contactless experience.
