Skidata has launched a new fully digitised tool that combines electronic ticketing with organisers’ safety requirements and coronavirus tests to support the return of live events.
The Safe Guest Solution will activate a ticket for use following a negative COVID-19 test, with the time and entry point details confirmed via a text message.
The system is also set up to accredit staff following a negative test one or two days before an event.
The access solutions firm said it can organise mega-events that may require mass testing through cooperations with high-capacity testing laboratories specialising in PCR tests.
Test results are returned several hours after a saliva test, with the system communicating the result directly to the person tested.
Skidata assures fans that if the result is negative, the registration is confirmed automatically without disclosing any health data.
In case of a positive test result, the accreditation can be locked or modified instantly as needed. The company also noted that accreditations can be verified in advance, such as on the bus while traveling to the event venue, by using portable scanners.
The new access system premiered at this year’s Berlin E-Prix for the Formula E Championships, which kicked off on August 5.
As per German government guidelines, a maximum number of 1,000 people have been allowed on site at any given time, including local suppliers and medical crews with each Formula E team bringing 20 staff.
Florian Schneeberger, vice-president marketing and technology at Skidata, said: “Especially in these times of coronavirus, verifying the health of your guests and staff is a crucial precondition for an event.
“Together with our partners mtms Solutions and leading healthcare test labs we have developed the worldwide unique Skidata Safe Guest Solution – a fully digitised tool that combines electronic ticketing with organisers’ safety requirements and coronavirus tests.
“With the Safe Guest Solution it’s now possible to ensure compliance with all the stringent safety requirements in a fully contact-free process.”
The firm has also announced that there is the option of offering special attention and guidance to VIPs, who can use only their own mobile phone as proof of accreditation to their seats without having to wait in line.
In addition, Skidata has collaborated with Mastercard to allow attendees to submit secure registration information to better facilitate on-site access permissions. Looking ahead, the company said the Safe Guest Solution will be the first to use Mastercard’s ‘Identity Check Mobile’ biometric authentication solution.
By verifying individual registration and accreditation for all attendees and combining pre-scheduled access permission, the system offers event organisers insights into real-time visitor numbers.
Skidata provides access and entry control for clients worldwide in ski resorts, stadiums, airports, shopping malls, cities, spa & wellness facilities, trade fairs and amusement parks.
