Austin FC shifts all season tickets ahead of MLS debut

Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion franchise Austin FC has sold out of season ticket memberships ahead of its debut in 2021.

Austin FC, the 27th club in MLS and the Texas city’s only major league team, has allocated approximately 15,000 membership packages with more than 44,000 deposits placed.

Austin FC president Andy Loughnane told MLSsoccer.com last week that 75 per cent of the 20,500-capacity Austin FC Stadium will be accounted for by season ticket holders.

The remaining seats will be available on an individual match basis.

Loughnane said: “From the record-breaking deposit totals when this process launched in 2019 to the speed at which season ticket membership are sold, we recognise our club stands at a fortunate position as a result of incredible support from our community.

“The incredible demand for major league sports in Austin is palpable and the love of soccer in Austin is real. Our season ticket membership total will position Austin FC towards the top tier of the league. The volume of support validates the strength of the Austin market.”

The club is also holding discussions with stadium-naming sponsors, and could add another 1,500 seats to its soccer-specific home.
