Ticketplan to provide ticket protection for Rugby League World Cup

Organisers of the Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) have announced a partnership with ticket insurance and protection company TicketPlan.

The tournament, which is a year away, kicks off its public ballot on Friday across 21 venues, including Old Trafford, Anfield, St James’ Park and Emirates Stadium.

Ben Bray, development director of the TicketPlan Group, said: “We are proud and delighted to be selected to partner with the Rugby League World Cup 2021 in order to provide a Ticket Protection service to their ticket buyers.

“It’s incredibly exciting to be working with the tournament in what is a breakthrough year for Rugby League, as for the first time, the men’s women’s and wheelchair tournaments will come together on the sport’s biggest stage in what is set to be a truly unmissable event.”

The RLWC2021 is guaranteeing a refund for all ticket buyers including hospitality sales, should there be restrictions on crowds or if the event has to be postponed or cancelled in order to “provide a reassurance for our customers.”

Terri Lynam, customer director of RLWC2021, said: “We are delighted to have the services of TicketPlan for RLWC2021. Their knowledge and experience within the ticket insurance and protection sector is unrivalled.

“Offering ticket protection gives peace of mind to our fans, especially as tickets for RLWC2021 have been purchased now with a year to go until the event.”

The public ballot will open on October 23 and all fans will be able to apply for tickets until November 16.

TicketPlan, whose clients include Glastonbury Festival, provides insurance cover to ticketing agents, venues and locations across the UK, enabling those ticket sellers in turn to offer a refund facility to their customers following cancellation of tickets or packages as a result of specified unforeseen events.
