European League Football partners Ticketmaster for inaugural season

The European League of Football (ELF) has appointed Ticketmaster as its official ticketing partner for its inaugural season, which kicks off in June.

The new pan-European American football league will initially include eight franchises from three nations, which are Germany, Poland and Spain.

Through the partnership, Ticketmaster will bring the experience gained from its longstanding partnership with the National Football League (NFL) and the NFL London Games.

Zeljko Karajica, chief executive of the ELF, said: “We are happy and satisfied that we have been able to win Ticketmaster, one of the world’s leading companies in this field, as an official ticketing partner. Our common goal is to deliver a tailor-made platform that addresses the needs of the large football community in a digital and target-group-oriented manner.”

The ELF comprises six clubs from Germany, including the Hamburg Sea Devils, and Frankfurt Galaxy, and one each from Poland and Spain, which are the Barcelona Gladiators and the Panthers Wroclaw.

Over the next few years the league plans to grow to 24 teams from several European countries.

Timo Skrzypski, Ticketmaster’s senior director sports business development – Europe, said: “As Ticketmaster, we are particularly pleased about the new partnership with the European League of Football.

“With our experience as a long-term partner of the NFL and the NFL Games in London, we want to contribute as an exclusive ticketing partner to ensure that the new league can exploit its full visitor potential in the future. We are convinced that we can continue the success story of football in Europe through the close networking of the European Ticketmaster markets.”

ELF games will be played according to NFL rules and offer the rapidly growing fan group a product during the NFL-free period from June to September.

Sebastian Kahlich, director sales and marketing at Ticketmaster, added: “This new strong partnership with the European League of Football shows how Ticketmaster can play out its international position from Germany and, on the one hand, strengthen marketing synergies internationally and, on the other hand, use the power of our numerous digital product features such as upsell options or ticket transfer.”
