Movistar Arena in Bogotá, Colombia has reopened its doors with musical Chavela por Siempre Vargas, adding a final date to the run.
The Movistar Arena was the first venue in Latin America to open its doors on March 25, 2021 with 12 shows after almost a year of restrictions imposed by COVID-19.
The arts scene came to life again in the Colombian capital, Bogotá when the doors opened with a new musical on the life of legendary Mexican singer, Chavela Vargas.
Chavela por siempre Vargas welcomed more than 8,000 attendees at the 14,000-capacity arena over 11 dates. Following its success, a new date has been added on April 9.
Organisers said in a statement: “Our greatest and most important achievement is that we were able to carry out everything safely. Thanks to the rigorous application of protocols and the close collaboration between the attendees and the logistics team of the Movistar Arena in Bogotá, we managed to control risks and live a show with peace of mind and safety.”
The arena’s biosecurity measures included ticket sales regulated by an algorithm that automatically blocks two metres around, as well as a shift ticket scheduling system. It also ran at reduced capacity, used thermal imaging cameras and bioclimatic ventilation, as well as in-seat delivery of food and beverage.
