Snapchat adds Ticketmaster concerts to Snap Map

Snapchat users can now find Ticketmaster concerts and easily progress to buy tickets through a new addition to the social media platform’s map service.

Snap Map, which is accessed by more than 250 million users each month, now features Map Layers, including a Ticketmaster Layer which displays which concerts are coming up at nearby venues. The Ticketmaster Layer will launch Snapchatters directly into the new Ticketmaster Mini to buy tickets to the show.

Map Layers is a new service to find specialised experiences from select partners and Snap itself. Other Map Layers include the Infatuation Layer which overlays restaurants and Snapchat’s own Memories feature.

Snap Inc, which owns Snapchat, said the Map Layers will be rolled out in the coming months.

“Snap Map helps Snapchatters connect to their closest friends, find familiar places and discover new ones, and explore local AR experiences through markers on the map,” a Snap spokesperson said. “Now, more than 250 million Snapchatters are using the Map every month, and there are more than 30 million businesses on the Map.”

Minis, which were introduced by Snap last year, are miniature applications that launch instantly in Snapchat with no installation required. They are integrated into the chat window on Snapchat, and earn revenue through Snap Ads and Snap Tokens. Atom Tickets and Coachella were two of the initial releases.

Snap added: “Through Snap’s developer platform, partners can leverage Snap’s technology around Login, Stories, Bitmoji, the Snapchat Camera, Minis and Games to enhance their products, extend their reach, and grow their businesses.

“More than 250,000 developers are registered with Snap Kit, and Snapchatters share partners’ content into the Snapchat Camera nearly 600 million times per month. In just two years, more than 200 million Snapchatters have played with Games and Minis.”
