National Lottery backs £1m Revive Live Tour

The UK’s National Lottery has teamed up with the Music Venue Trust to unveil a new £1m initiative to help revive grassroots live music events.

More than 300 live performances will take place across The National Lottery’s Revive Live Tour, which will feature major stars such as Tom Jones, Sam Fender and Rag’n’Bone Man, as well as up-and-coming performers.

Tickets will go on sale soon for the first shows, according to the Music Venue Trust, with the first concert scheduled for July 22.

Customers can buy one ticket and bring a friend for free if a National Lottery ticket or scratch card can be produced or shown at admission. The free ticket-holder must be over the age of 18.

“Live music venues aren’t just about the shows,” stated a press release announcing the initiative. “Live music is about bringing people together, celebrating that moment, that band, that song, together.

“The National Lottery and Music Venue Trust want to invite you to create new moments of shared experience with your family, friends and communities, because we understand the important role music plays in bringing people together.”

The Music Venue Trust created a Traffic Light campaign in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to highlight the plight of live music venues that were unsuccessful in applying for full support from the government-backed £1.57bn Culture Recovery Fund last year.
