The Milwaukee music festival, Summerfest 2021, presented ticket holders with just a three-day window for refunds, after it changed its Covid-19 protocols.
In order to attend the event, organisers announced that festival goers have to prove they are vaccinated against the virus, or provide a negative test result from the last 72 hours. If fans were unhappy with the change, or would be unable to provide one of the necessary entry requirements, they could apply for a refund.
The US festival released a statement, which read: “Patrons who previously purchased tickets to Summerfest, in addition to tickets previously purchased for concerts during Summerfest at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, BMO Harris Pavillion, and a Level Up Viewing Deck can now obtain a refund, due to a change in the festival entry requirements.”
The statement was released on Friday, August 13 and the window to apply for a refund closes today (Monday, August 16) at 19:00 CDT (01:00 BST).
Summerfest also noted that only tickets purchased for admission or concerts during the dates from Summerfest, Ticketmaster or in person from the box office are eligible for a refund.
The festival runs in three different slots – September 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18. Acts include Guns N’ Roses, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Jonas Brothers and Sheryl Crow.
A number of organisations, including Live Nation and AEG, have also implemented similar Covid-19 rules for staff and attendees. The announcements come as the US reported a further 43,818 new coronavirus cases yesterday.
