Kia Oval boasts exceptional ticket sales for cricket tournaments

With the England cricket team chasing a record 368 to win today (Monday), all tickets for the fifth day of the fourth Test against India sold out in advance. 

The Test is being held at the Kia Oval in London, with tickets for today’s match only £20 (€23.32/ $27.67) and under 16’s charged just £1. 

Surrey Cricket Club, which also plays at the Kia Oval, noted that tickets have sold extremely well this summer, including sold-out games for new tournament The Hundred. There has been five sold-out days for this LV=Insurance Test match.

The Hundred was introduced to bring more fans into the sport, with a particular focus on young people. Across the whole tournament, almost 500,000 tickets were sold during the first week alone. The Oval Invincibles won the first women’s Hundred tournament while Southern Brave took the trophy for the men’s competition. 

Before the extension of the third national lockdown in England due to COVID-19, tickets for three Vitality Blast T20 games at the Oval were also sold out. The other four games at the ground were heading in the same direction, but capacity was restricted to 25%. 

Surrey also increased its club membership by 1,141 members from 2020 to 2021, with the total now sitting at 14,700. Around 10,000 memberships have already been secured for the 2022 season, seven months before the first ball has been bowled. 

Hospitality has also boomed with the first three days of this current LV=Insurance Test complete sell outs, with a further 3,500 tickets sold on day four. 

The Five-Test series between England and India is currently level at 1-1.
