Munich’s European Championships take on Ticketmaster as partner

The European Championships, a multi-sport event due to be held in Munich next year, is partnering with Ticketmaster Germany.

The ticketing company will provide services from discovery and purchase through to event access, and will implement its ticketing technology to provide a smooth process for fans, including easy delivery and ticket transfers.

The European Championships are set to take place from August 11-21 with almost 5,000 athletes competing. Nine Olympic sports will feature including athletics, cycling, gymnastics, rowing, table tennis, triathlon, beach volleyball, canoe sprint and sport climbing.

Klaus Cyron, Markus Schnetzer and Frank Seipp are the managing directors of the 2022 event. They said: “With Ticketmaster, we have a global player to cover our complex requirements at the highest level and offer a distribution network for tickets of all categories as well as the associated marketing and service solutions for the multitude of sports fans in Europe.

“Past major events, such as the European Championships 2018, have shown that Ticketmaster is a reliable, technologically advanced partner with creative ideas. Ticketmaster is the entry point to our sports venues, and we are looking forward to welcoming thousands of enthusiastic spectators who will create an excellent atmosphere.”

Klaus Lemke, regional vice president for Ticketmaster, central Europe, added: “This will be the biggest multi-sport event to take place in Germany since the 1972 summer Olympics, so to say we’re excited about this partnership would be an understatement.

“Our dedicated team is ready to provide sporting fans across Europe with a faultless ticketing experience so they can simply focus on enjoying this spectacular event.”

The event will be held at the Munich Olympiapark, which was built for the 1972 Olympic Games.
