ASM Global opens regional headquarters in Singapore

Venue management company ASM Global has expanded its presence in the Asia-Pacific region by opening a new headquarters in Singapore.

ASM Global Singapore will have a joint leadership team comprising two long-term industry specialists: executive vice-president of operations Paul Sergeant and newly appointed executive vice-president of venue development Ed Sanderson.

Sergeant has been with ASM Global for three years and most recently served as a senior vice-president. Sanderson has 20 years of commercial and operational experience in venues and facilities across Asia, most recently with Populous. The two are expected to take up their roles in Singapore by the end of the year.

ASM Global APAC chairman and chief executive Harvey Lister has cited the company’s under-construction Kai Tak Sports Park project in Hong Kong (pictured) and the recently unveiled Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center as examples of the potential of the region. Six future arenas confirmed to be managed by ASM Global are also set to open in the region.

The opening of the new regional headquarters in Singapore ties in with ASM Global’s plans to grow its overall operations in the Asia-Pacific region.

ASM Global chief executive and president Ron Bension said: “We believe that this part of the world is ready for a phase of robust growth, and we’re investing in personnel and plans to ensure we’re at the forefront of a significant growth curve.”

Lister added: “This is an exciting development and reinforcement of the importance of this region to our organisation and the expansion of our regionally based business activities. Having our ASM Global APAC industry professionals like Paul and Ed on the ground will bring a wealth of local knowledge and experience to our operations.”

The Kai Tak Sports Park project is due to be completed in 2023. The project will be anchored by a 50,000-seat stadium and will also include a 10,000-seat indoor arena and a public sports ground with a capacity of 5,000 seats.
