Online ticketing marketplace Vivid Seats has celebrated the major milestone of selling its 100 millionth ticket.
The operator said it has marked the occasion by donating $100,000 (£73,500/€88,200) to charity MusiCares, which helps those in music during their time of need. The latest donation means that Vivid Seats has supported MusiCares with more than $2m since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020.
The milestone follows Vivid Seats’ introduction to the stock exchange through its business combination with special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Horizon Acquisition Corporation, as well as its company record-setting third quarter financial results.
Vivid Seats chief executive officer Stan Chia said: “The announcement is another example of the incredible momentum we are seeing as a brand and business. I am so proud that we have been directly responsible for creating over 100 million memories that will last our customers a lifetime, as we continue to support and raise awareness around important causes, like MusiCares.”
Last year also witnessed Vivid Seats, which was founded in 2001, expand its marketplace technology into the online gaming sector through the acquisition of fantasy sports app, Betcha Sports. US gambling giant DraftKings also aided with Vivid Seats’ bid to go public, as it invested in New York-listed Horizon.
