Initial ticket windows open for The Hundred

Cricket fans that bought tickets for last year’s inaugural edition of The Hundred will now be able to get their hands on tickets for the 2022 competition.

Ticket buyers from last year are able to purchase tickets after the first priority window opened yesterday (Wednesday), with previous attendees now able to buy tickets from today.

A second window will open from March 31 for those that signed up to access via The Hundred website. A general sale will commence on April 20.

The first year of The Hundred saw 510,000 tickets snapped up and issued for the competition, with 19% of all tickets accounted for by under 16s. Some 55% of ticket holders had never bought a ticket to watch cricket in this country before.

Younger fans are still at the forefront of the family-focused tournament – which sees both men’s and women’s championships run simultaneously – with low ticket prices to appeal to as many people as possible.

Tickets will be available to those under 16 for just £5 ($6.70/€6) while children under five can watch the action for free.

The Hundred has also been a champion of women’s cricket, with some of the highest ever attendances for the women’s game globally.

There are eight teams based across seven cities in England and Wales and initial players for men’s and women’s teams have already been announced, with further players to be picked during the men’s draft in March. New signings will also be announced by the women’s teams at the same time.

Issy Wong, who will play once more for Birmingham Phoenix, said: “I’m so excited to be playing with Birmingham Phoenix this summer. Last year was incredible for us and the women’s game, it’s only going to get bigger and better with world-class players like Ellyse Perry being able to join this time around.

“We can’t wait to get going and to perform in front of full houses again.”

Eoin Morgan, who will feature for London Spirit again, added: “The first year of The Hundred was a huge success. We saw quality cricket in front of incredible crowds, and it was awesome to see so many families coming to watch.

“It was also really special to see so many fans watching both us and the women’s team and it’s undeniable that The Hundred has had a massive impact on the women’s game.”
