NASCAR at COTA NFTs set to drop

NASCAR fans will be able to celebrate the start of race week with the launch of NASCAR at COTA stadium series NFTs (non-fungible tokens), following successful NFT drops.

The NFTs will be available from 12pm CST (5pm GMT) today (Monday).

Speedway Motorsports, which owns a number of race tracks across the US, will launch the first NASCAR at COTA NFTs to kick off the race week for the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at the Circuit of Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas on March 27.

The NFTs will be priced at $5 (£4/€4.50) each and will also include 500 rare gold versions that will be available on RaceDayNFT.com, Speedway Motorsports’ digital collectible marketplace, which was created in partnership with GigLabs.

The marketplace is built on the environmentally friendly Flow Blockchain, which also hosts other US sporting NFT projects such as NBA Top Shot, NFL All Day and UFC Strike. Speedway Motorsports is utilising GigLabs’ NFT Bridge platform to power its NFT marketplace.

Following the first launch, a further 2,500 NASCAR at COTA-theme virtual diecast NFTs will be released and will remain on sale until Sunday, at $30 each. On the race day itself, EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix ticket NFTs will be available to fans attending the race and watching from home.

Sunday ticketholders can collect one of 5,000 platinum collectible ticket NFTs for free, or non-attendees can purchase one for $10. This collection will also include 500 rare golden commemorative tickets.

Speedway Motorsports’ official charity, Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC), will also benefit from funds raised through the purchase of NFTs. The marketplace will also feature 1,000 SCC track tokens that will be priced at a $50 donation from Wednesday. The proceeds will go towards children’s organisations in Austin, through the SCC.
