Tech Stack: NFTs, DAO and more…

Our weekly tech round-up from the world of ticketing and associated industries…

NFT-enabled experiences

MGM Resorts International, a hospitality and entertainment company, is moving its Las Vegas resort into the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The resort will offer NFT-enabled live performance experiences through a partnership with New York City-based ticketing blockchain YellowHeart.

The collaboration will result in the sale of 1,100 NFT-enable tickets to see the Jabbawockeez dance troupe in its new production, adding value to its ticket sales.

SailGP

International sailing competition, SailGP, has partnered with carbon-neutral blockchain development platform Near, in a multi-year deal. As part of the partnership, SailGP will weigh up a sale of a new team to a DAO (Decentralised Autonomous Organisation) launched on the Near Protocol.

The collaboration will mean fans of the sport and cryptocurrency enthusiasts can engage and access their favourite teams, athletes and events. Near and SailGP will also focus on other initiatives such as integrated technologies and research and development across DAOs, ticketing, NFTs, app integration and gaming as well as Global Web3 community development.

Metaverse and MMA

B2 Digital, a development league for mixed martial arts (MMA), announced that its B2 Fighting Series had a successful debut in the metaverse. The event was held live in Dothan, Alabama and simultaneously in the metaverse.

B2 Digital also distributed 50 bespoke NFTs which saw more than 50 avatars wearing ‘B2 Fighter’ avatar body designs at the virtual B2FS 153 event.

“B2FS 153 was a tremendous way to kick off our metaverse strategy, as well as an excellent debut in a new location in the physical world,” said Greg P. Bell, chief executive and chairman of B2 Digital.

Festivals, NFTs and cryptocurrency

Caprices Fest, a music festival that is set to take place in Crans-Montana, Switzerland across two weekends in April, has partnered with Backstage. The partnership will mean the festival will be able to utilise Backstage tools including NFT ticketing and crypto payments at events.
