MLB seeks fan experience boost through Project Admission deals

Major League Baseball (MLB) has given approval to three teams to debut Project Admission’s ticket distribution platform.

The Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays will now introduce Project Admission’s platform for the 2022 season.

Nashville-headquartered Project Admission, which already has partners in the NFL, NBA and MLS, helps teams to manage the lifecycle of the ticketing process by supporting their partners’ ability to capture demand by leveraging local organisations through branded storefronts, bulk ticket distribution and monetising goals.

“We’re excited to welcome Project Admission to MLB as we continue to adopt new and innovative technologies that can support teams and enhance the fan experience,” says Mark Plutzer, senior vice-president of ticketing at the MLB. “We look forward to seeing how Project Admission can meet the demands of a league that is constantly pushing the envelope on embracing new, more efficient technologies.”

Bill Walsh, the Rays’ chief business officer, said: “We value options in inventory management. We are excited that Project Admission’s commitment to innovation aligns with ours, and we look forward to seeing the potential their tools can offer.”

Project Admission’s software integrates with ticketing platforms and is designed to enable sports teams, artists, and event producers to reach new audiences, capture downstream revenue and collect actionable data while providing a usable experience for fans purchasing tickets to live events.

“It’s an honour to partner with Major League Baseball to help clubs sell and distribute tickets,” said Stephen Glicken, Project Admission’s chief executive. “As another exciting baseball season is unfolding, featuring exciting changes on the field, we couldn’t be happier to be in position to help support the sport’s growth and popularity moving forward.”

Last year, SeatGeek announced a partnership by which Project Admission’s software is integrated directly into the operator’s primary ticketing platform to deliver a suite of group sales tools for rights holders.
