Our weekly tech round-up from the world of ticketing and associated industries…

Secondary NFT ticket marketplace

Get Protocol is set to team up with Immutable X to create a secondary marketplace for NFT (non-fungible token) tickets, it has been reported.

Immutable X is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum and has been a L2 partner for a number of Web3 companies including VeVe, Rarible and Gamestop. The marketplace will be fully on-chain and include a Fiat onramp to help onboard users into Web3.

There is yet to be a date set for the launch of the NFT ticket secondary marketplace.

A virtual ticket

Global games conference, PG Connects, is heading to Toronto, Canada after shows in London and Seattle. However, if fans are unable to attend, organisers are offering tickets for virtual attendees.

The hybrid conference will allow fans to access all the virtual elements of the event, which will be held on July 6 and 7.

Virtual attendees will be able to watch all the live talks from the speakers via a livestream, as well as have unlimited access to the MeetToMatch meeting platform. Here, ticket-holders can request and attend virtual meetings with other attendees via Zoom or other platforms.

Even if you are not able to tune into all the talks live, fans will have access to on-demand streams once the conference ends.

Mobile ticketing

The 2022 College World Series, a baseball league that will kick off this week, has kept mobile ticketing for the new season to help fans avoid potential scams.

Cashless payment options have been available for some time, and the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority, a non-profit organisation that builds and manages public event venues in Omaha, Nebraska, made it the only option in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A number of stadiums and venues also went on to only accept digital tickets to make it harder for possible scammers to take advantage of patrons.

NFT-ticketed convention

ASM Global-operated US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis recently welcomed 7,000 patrons to a NFT-ticketed convention.

The inaugural VeeCon event was a multi-day conference with discussions and performances from leaders in the NFT world and popular culture.
