Rugby Football Union reveals women’s ticket sales increase following Lionesses victory

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has revealed a rise in ticket sales for England Women’s internationals, following the success of the England Women’s football team.

The Lionesses were victorious over Germany at Wembley on Sunday, in front of a record crowd, to lift the Women’s Euro 2022 trophy.

England’s rugby union team is set to face the US at Sandy Park in Exeter and Wales at Ashton Gate in Bristol in September. The fixtures precede England’s Rugby World Cup campaign in New Zealand in October and November.

The RFU has said that demand for tickets to the International fixtures in September has soared following the Lionesses’ victory.

An RFU spokesperson told the PA news agency: “We have seen a spike in sales in the period over the weekend and on the Monday following the Euro final. And that was compared to the weekend/Monday prior to the final.

“There has been an average increase of over 100% in ticket sales for both games.”

Demand for tickets has also significantly increased across women’s football and the Women’s Super League (WSL) since the final.

Tickets for a friendly between the US and the Lionesses at Wembley in October sold out in less than a day.
