TicketPAY-owned wizid.sport develops OTT platform for German league

Digital ticketing provider TicketPAY Europe’s wizid.sport brand has developed a new over-the-top streaming platform for the German Handball Bundesliga.

HBL TV, which will provide live coverage of the Bundesliga’s top two divisions, will be operated by the league “in cooperation with wizid.sport”.

The platform will be available worldwide in markets where media rights agreements have not been struck, such as Spain, Portugal, China and Japan.

TicketPAY has been managing the ticketing of Handball Bundesliga events since the 2021-22 season. The league said that it has been focusing on the digitization of sports leagues and clubs.

The service is initially offering a free taster for fans with live coverage of the season-opening Super Cup game between reigning Bundesliga champion SC Magdeburg and DHB-Pokal winner THW Kiel tomorrow (Wednesday).

Ultimately, subscriptions to HBL TV will cost €3.99 per month or €39.99 per year.

The platform will offer a ‘match of the day’ with English commentary, which will also be provided for its coverage of the domestic Super Cup and Final4 events.

The Parookaville and San Hejmo music festivals, as well as nightclub operator World Club Dome, are among TicketPAY’s clients.
