Gloucester offers discounted tix to fans of crisis club Worcester

Gloucester Rugby has become the latest club to offer discounted tickets to fans of Worcester Warriors following the team’s suspension from the Gallagher Premiership.

Gloucester is making tickets available at a 50% discount for Warriors season ticket holders. Those interested can apply for the discount before Friday (Oct 7).

In a message from Gloucester chief executive Lance Bradley, Warriors fans have been told they are welcome to wear their team’s shirt at any matches they attend.

Gloucester’s Kingsholm ground is only 25 miles from Worcester’s Sixways Stadium.

“First of all, on behalf of everyone at Gloucester Rugby, I want to say how sorry we all are to hear about the problems your club is going through. We know, as fans ourselves, what your club means to you,” Bradley said.

“While we can’t help with you being able to watch Worcester Warriors at the moment, we can help with you being able to watch alternative top-flight rugby games.

“Our clubs are rivals on the pitch, but not off it. When we see our neighbours going through a tough time it just feels like the right thing to welcome you to our ‘Holm.”

Gloucester added that the club will offer discounted tickets to local Gloucestershire schools and other community groups to match the figure taken up by Worcester fans.

Gloucester’s announcement comes soon after a similar offer from London Irish, although that club’s Brentford home is more than 120 miles away from Sixways.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) last week suspended the Warriors from all competitions after it was confirmed the club had been placed into administration.

Owners WRFC Trading Limited asked the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to place the club into administration on Tuesday. This means that the Warriors are unable to compete in the Premiership, Premier 15s, U18s Academy Cup and Allianz Cup.

Management had failed to provide the RFU with evidence of insurance cover, availability of funds to meet its monthly payroll, and a credible plan to secure the future of the club.
