Imagine Dragons and The Strokes are among the acts that have been confirmed for the inaugural Lollapalooza India in 2023.

The two-day event will become the eighth destination and first Asian staging of the international, multi-city festival when it is held from January 28-29 at Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai.

Lollapalooza India, which will be played on four stages, will be American rock group The Strokes’ first-ever appearance in India, with Imagine Dragons also headlining. Greta von Fleet, Diplo and Zhu are also among the 40 international and Indian artists who will appear.

Some 60,000 fans are expected over the two days, with BookMyShow and Perry Farrell and C3 Presents promoting the event. Tickets went on sale via Lollaindia today (Nov 3).

BookMyShow said: “Following a philosophy of ‘Mix the music, generations, Reunite the most advanced music experts and a Neophyte public’, Lollapalooza India aims to bring together music aficionados across genres, entertainment enthusiasts, global and Indian audiences that are seeking marquee, unique experiences at par with international standards. Amongst the boldest, brightest, most colourful and diverse festivals around the world, Lollapalooza is a festival that offers everyone something to take back home through its music, ethos, vibe and unparalleled experience.”

Founded in the USA in 1991, Lollapalooza has grown into an annual festival in Chicago and has expanded to Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France and Sweden.

Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell said earlier this year: “The music of India is transcendental, it draws our spirits East. Lollapalooza is an instrument for unity, peace, and education utilising the universal languages of music and art to find common ground.”
