The year kicked off with an acquisition as TodayTix Group acquired Goldstar, a North American live events discovery and ticketing platform. While financial details were not disclosed, TodayTix said that the deal more than doubled its North American audience and expanded its reach beyond theatre to include sports, concerts and live events.

Daniel Nardicio asked his business partners Taylor Shubert and Sam Benedict: “What would happen if we created our own queer ticketing platform?”

The result was ticketing platform Red Eye Tickets based in New York. The management team spoke to about creating a ticketing platform for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Despite releasing a new album at the end of 2021, singer Adele angered thousands of fans after postponing her Las Vegas residency, Weekends with Adele, at the last minute. Fans were given a month to claim their refund for tickets, which cost between $85 (£70/€80) and $685.

The singer has been performing the rearranged shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace since mid-November.

January 2022 also brought with it new optimism, with the majority of the world operating normally once more following the pandemic. In sharp contrast to January 2021, live events were returning thick and fast. ASM Global’s chief content officer John Boyle believed that this year was going to be a “special year”.
