2022 in review – October

As the year began to wind down, investor Silver Lake started to look at exit options for its ticketing and live entertainment business, TEG, according to reports. TEG, which also owns ticketing firm Ticketek, was acquired by Silver Lake in 2019.

A North America coalition led by economic libertarian groups and consumer champions was established in October, to campaign for the break-up of Live Nation and Ticketmaster. Calls like this would grow in November following Ticketmaster’s Taylor Swift Eras Tour pre-sale botch job…

German rock group Rammstein successfully obtained a restraining order preventing resale site Viagogo from offering tickets to its shows. The restraining order means that Viagogo is unable to resell tickets for the band’s upcoming 2023 European Tour, and was actioned by the district court of Hamburg. 

October saw Scottish Rugby and digital ticket distribution service provider, Tixserve, announce a multi-year partnership that would bring digital ticketing to BT Murrayfield stadium. Fans are now able to use the Tixserve-powered Scottish Rugby Ticketing App to store tickets and gain entry to the stadium.
