Some 20,000 people from Australia and across the globe attended the opening concert at Sydney WorldPride over the weekend.

The Live and Proud concert on Friday marked the opening of the 17-day celebration, which will feature more than 350 events.

There were performances from the likes of British singer Charli XCX and Australian singer Kylie Minogue, who welcomed sister Dannii Minogue onstage to sing alongside her for the final song.

The concert was presented by drag queen Courtney Act and Australian singer Casey Donovan, with both also performing.

Over 78,000 visitors are expected to travel in for the festivities, which include ticketed and free events, across the 17 days. Over 75,000 watched the weekend’s 45th Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade alone, which featured 207 floats and 12,500 participants.

Following over two weeks of events, there will also be a closing concert featuring the likes of Ava Max and Kim Petras at The Domain.

General admission tickets for the closing concert cost A$139 (£78/€88/$93) and are available through Moshtix.

The Live Nation-owned ticketing platform announced its partnership with Sydney WorldPride in June last year.
