Multiple universities across the US have notified their students of a data breach that has been experienced by ticketing platform and live event software provider, AudienceView.

The recent data breach may have affected customers that purchased tickets in February.

The University of Victoria in Canada told the Times Colonist that it returned briefly to physical tickets purchased from the box office, in order to protect students from the data breach.

“An outside vendor, AudienceView contracted UVic, had a data breach. We temporarily suspended use of their product, which identifies available seats and also assigns a specific seat, when a ticket is purchased a ticketed Vikes event,” said Nicole Greengoe, interim senior director of UVic Athletics and Recreation.

Further universities affected by the breach include Kent State, Cornell University, State University of New York and Loyola University Chicago, and many more.

There have also been reports by higher education providers that an ongoing investigation has revealed that information breached includes personal credit card payment information.

AudienceView Campus is the company’s product dedicated to athletics, performing arts and student life ticketing. It was formerly known as UTIX by UniversityTickets.
