The FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 has sold over 850,000 tickets for the tournament, which is set to kick off next month.
With less than 50 days to go until the opening match, organisers believe they are well on their way to selling one million tickets.
A FIFA spokesperson told BBC Sport that organisers expect to reach the one million tickets sold milestone “over the next few weeks”.
World Cup organisers originally targeted a record 1.5 million ticket sales for this year’s competition.
Tickets went on sale in October last year following a record-breaking pre-sale.
Some 650,000 tickets had been sold at the 100 days to go mark.
New Zealand will kick off the tournament with an opening match against Norway at Eden Park in Auckland on July 20.
The final will be played on August 20 at Accor Stadium in Sydney, Australia.
