The 2023 Latin American tour will kick off with a concert from English rock band The Cure at San Marcos Stadium in Lima, Peru on November 22. Primavera Sound will then travel to a number of other countries with two festivals, two Road to Primavera events, a Primavera Day and several concerts.
Buenos Aires, Argentina and Sáo Paulo, Brazil will each host a Primavera festival, while Asunción in Paraguay will provide the backdrop for Primavera Day. Lima and Bogotá in Colombia will host a Road to Primavera event each, while tours have been organised in Santiago in Chile and Montevideo in Uruguay.
Primavera Sound will also facilitate a further six performances from The Cure – the band’s first across South America after more than a decade.
Argentina and Brazil will host the two biggest celebrations, with the festival set to return after debuting in the countries last year. On November 25 and 26, Parque Sarmiento in Buenos Aires will host a line-up featuring The Cure, Blur, Pet Shop Boys and Beck. The event has been co-organised with Dale Play, Popart and Move.
The festival event to be held at the Autódromo de Interlagos in Sáo Paulo will feature The Cure, The Killers and the Pet Shop Boys. This event has been organised with promoter T4F – Time For Fun. The two events will also include Primavera in the City, an expanded festival experience in the two locations with artists such as Róisín Murphy and Slowdice. The experience will also highlight ‘Nobody Is Normal’, Primavera Sound’s action plan against sexual aggression and harassment.
Paraguay will host this year’s first edition of Primavera Day Asunción, produced by local promoter G5Pro on December 7 at José Asunción Flores Amphitheatre. The Cure, along with Slowdive, Soccer Mommy and El Mató a un Policía Motorizado, will perform.
Primavera Sound will make its debut in Colombia on December 9-10 at the 14,000-capacity Movistar Arena in Bogotá, with The Cure and the Pet Shop Boys set to play. This event is the result of a collaboration with promoter Bizarro, which also worked on Peru’s Road to Primavera.
Bizarro further collaborated on four dates, including The Cure’s appearance in Peru, as well as Bad Gyal’s performance on December 2 at Multiespacio Costa 21, Pet Shop Boys’ concert on December 7 at the same location and Bad Religion’s gig on December 8 at Amphitheatre del Parque de la Exposición.
Completing the Latin American tour, and the collaboration with Bizarro, Chile will also host concerts from the Pet Shop Boys on November 29 at Movistar Arena, Bad Gyal the following day and Bad Religion on December 5 and 6 at Teatro Caupolicán.
As part of The Cure’s tour, Montevideo in Uruguay will welcome its first Primavera Sound event, in co-production with Gaucho, on November 27 at Intel Arena.
