Holland – who has played Spiderman in Marvel movies since 2016 – will play Shakespeare’s Romeo at the Duke Of York Theatre this summer.
Tickets sold out via ATG Tickets in just over two hours as 60,000 fans scrambled to get tickets on general sale for Jamie Lloyd’s production. There was an earlier rush as a pre-sale attracted more than 50,000 eager theatregoers.
Holland’s 12-week run at the Duke of York commences on May 11 and finishes on August 3. The theatre, which is operated by Ambassador Theatre Group, has a capacity of 640.
Holland began his career with a role in Billy Elliot the Musical at the West End’s Victoria Palace Theatre when he was 12 years old in 2008. He ascended to the title role in the show the following year.
