The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)’s Men’s and Women’s World Cup proved popular with fans in Macau, as tickets for the semi-finals and finals sold out in under three seconds.
According to reports, tickets were snapped up in just 2.24 seconds after going on sale.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from April 15-21 at Galaxy Arena, with qualifying matches set for the first two days. Elimination matches will then take place on April 18 and 19, followed by the semi-finals on April 20 and the final on April 21.
Organised by the Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group, World Table Tennis Management Group and the Macau Table Tennis General Association, the event will see a total of 48 men’s and 48 women’s players battle it out for the championship titles.
Tickets remain on sale for earlier games, with prices starting from 100 Macanese Pataca (£10/£11/$12).
Fans will be able to secure tickets through a number of platforms including Damai, the mCoin platform of Mpay, Cityline and macauticket.com, as well Kong Sing outlets in the Chinese special administrative region and over the phone, or directly at the venue.
