With less than 500 days to go until the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in 2025, the local organising committee has revealed details around the ticket sales programme.

Pre-registration for tickets opened earlier this week, with those that register receiving a Fan ID that will offer priority access to tickets in advance of the general public sale.

Roughly 700,000 tickets will go on sale later this summer in the pre-sales, with approximately 70% of tickets available for less than 10,000 JPY (£52/€61/$66).

Additionally, there will be low-cost tickets for all sessions for families and groups, including children, the elderly or those with a disability. However, these ticket-holders must attend in groups of at least two people.

Primary pre-sales will begin in the summer of this year, while autumn will host the secondary pre-sales.

General public sales are scheduled to take place in 2025.

Ticket prices for morning sessions will range between 2,500 JPY and 15,000 JPY, while weekday evening tickets will cost between 4,000 JPY and 30,000 JPY. Evening weekend ticket prices will range from 5,000 JPY to 50,000 JPY.

The World Athletics Championships in Tokyo will run from September 13-21, 2025.
