The Edinburgh Festival Fringe has announced a new batch of almost 1,600 shows for this year’s edition.
Shows span a number of genres, including cabaret and variety; children’s performances; comedy; dance, physical theatre and circus; music; musicals and opera; spoken word; and theatre. The new shows are an addition to the previously announced 1,674 already on the programme.
With the additional shows, some 3,237 performances have been announced so far.
The full official Fringe programme is set to launch on June 12.
“In the last release of shows before the full programme launch on June 12, it’s an utter delight to see the range and quality of work that artists are bringing to the festival this year,” said Shona McCarthy, chief executive of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society.
“In what is one of the festival’s most wide-ranging releases of shows to date, today’s announcement reflects a growing trend by artists to encourage audiences to book earlier than ever before. This latest reveal brings us one step closer to August, and I can’t wait for you all to get a chance to #UnleashYourFringe.”
Earlier this year, organisers announced that the Fringe would provide accommodation for hundreds of participants during the 2024 edition.
Almost 2.5 million tickets were issued across the 2023 event – an 11% increase on 2022.
The event will return to the Scottish capital from August 2-26.
