Trivandi has launched a training and educational academy for the major events industry.
The London-headquartered consultancy works in strategy, design, delivery and operations for major events and venues, and has rolled out its first academic module, Major Events 101. This module has been developed and delivered by industry personnel and university professors. It has also been Level 3 accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
Aiming to professionalise the industry through education and training, the certified courses will offer up-skill and research opportunities, as well as thought leadership and the sharing of knowledge.
“We are really excited to launch the Trivandi Academy. It provides a unique opportunity to share our team’s in-depth experience of planning and operating more than 260 global major events over the last decade, together with the knowledge and expertise of over 2,000 subject matter experts in our network,” said Trivandi chief executive James Bulley.
“This will support us on Trivandi’s mission to continually improve the quality, standards and sustainability of major event delivery and operations. It will also increase the talent pool of industry experts in nations hosting major events through best-in-class training, and leave behind a lasting human legacy of industry know-how.”
The module has been developed by Trivandi’s team, in partnership with Dr Mike Duignan, a university professor with experience in economics and social impacts of events and festivals. The 60-hour, online, flexible learning course covers topics from bidding, planning and delivery, to evaluation and isolation.
Major Events 101 includes real-life examples shared through video interviews, including Lord Paul Deighton, chief executive of the London Organising Committee of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“When we delivered the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, many of us hadn’t worked on such large-scale, major events before and we had to learn as we went along. Major Events 101 is an excellent opportunity to fast-track the knowledge and understanding of event leaders and professionals involved in every stage of delivering complex events. I highly recommend participation whatever your role or experience level,” said Deighton.
The module has kicked off with its first cohort, and will open up to further applicants in the near future.
