West End Live welcomes 70,000 theatre lovers to Trafalgar Square

More than 70,000 theatre fans packed into London’s Trafalgar Square across the weekend for West End Live, the largest free theatre festival in Europe. 

Fans were treated to 11 hours of performances with a line-up of more than 50 of London’s top shows.

Musicals featured in the programme included Back To The Future The Musical, The Book Of Mormon, Cabaret, The Choir Of Men, Disney’s Frozen, Hamilton, Disney’s The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, RSC’s Matilda The Musical, Les Misérables, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, The Phantom Of The Opera, Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, Six The Musical and Wicked.

Making their West End Live debut were The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Fangirls, Hadestown, Kathy & Stella Solve A Murder!, Mean Girls, MJ The Musical, Mrs Doubtfire, Standing At The Sky’s Edge, Two Strangers (Carry A Cake Across New York), Why Am I So Single? and Your Lie In April.

There were additional special performances from West End stars such as Carrie Hope Fletcher, Mazz Murray and John Owen-Jones.

Taking place June 22-23, it was the third time West End Live has returned to the English capital since its COVID-enforced break.

West End Live is the result of a partnership between Westminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre.
