LIVE Talks, an initiative run by music industry trade body LIVE (Live music Industry Venues & Entertainment), has partnered up with some of the UK’s most prominent venues and organisations including Royal Albert Hall, OVO Hydro, See Tickets, Skiddle and The O2.

The series of free online workshops will continue to focus on EDI (equality, diversity and inclusion), wellbeing and sustainability issues affecting the live music industry.

LIVE’s latest supporters have joined the likes of previously committed partners AEG, Live Nation, SJM Concerts and Kilimanjaro for this year’s series.

The series was launched in 2022, and the first two workshops took place in June and November that year, in partnership with Black Lives in Music, AFEM (Association for Electronic Music) and Safer Dance. Since its inception, 15 talks have been held covering topics that affect all those working in live music including breaking down barriers for disabled people; supporting parents and carers in music; mental health support for artists and workers; the importance of representation and more.

Two new events have been unveiled for 2024, with a focus on menstruation and menstrual health in the live music industry and exploring opportunities within South Asian live music. Taking place on August 14 from 12:00-13:00, ‘Menstruation and Menstrual Health in the Live Music Industry’ will be hosted in collaboration with The Musicians Union and Hen Picked: Menopause in the Workplace.

‘From Melas to Stadiums: Exploring Opportunities within South Asian Live Music’ will take place on October 24 between 12:00-13:00, in partnership with DEI Specialist and cultural consultant Sania Haq.

“We are very appreciative of the support we receive from our committed partners who have fully engaged with what we are trying to achieve with LIVE Talks,” commented Gaby Cartwright, head of partnerships at LIVE.

“Since we launched this initiative in 2022, we have hosted 15 free talks covering a wide range of topics and issues and believe that coming together to discuss and listen can positively contribute to people’s experiences of working in the live music industry. With that in mind we are always looking to open this platform to other fantastic organisations who can share their insights and expertise and look forward to announcing more events in the near future.”
