As the 2024-25 football season draws closer in Spain, several of the country’s teams are reporting increased uptake in season tickets.
During the 2023-24 campaign, La Liga season tickets accounted for an average of 80% of stadium capacity with a renewal rate of 91.9%.
In the Segunda División (Spain’s second tier), 68% of stadium seats were occupied by season ticket-holders with clubs having an average renewal rate of 85.7%.
Organisers claim that the rate of renewals in the top two divisions is on track to break records.
Although supporters are still able to purchase season tickets, some clubs have already sold out or come close.
Deportivo de la Coruña has sold 19,000 season tickets compared to just 7,000 that it registered at this point last year.
“We are very happy with the enthusiasm with which our fans have welcomed the return of the club to professional football,” said club director Massimo Adalberto Benassi.
“The support of the Deportivo fans is always exemplary and this season ticket-holder campaign has once again demonstrated this by breaking all records from previous seasons.”
Meanwhile, Malaga CF general manager Kike Pérez is confident that the club will reach 25,000 members.
Atletico Madrid has seen 98% of its season ticket-holders renew for the 2024-25 campaign at the Metropolitano Stadium.
The club finished 2023-24 with the highest number of season ticket-holders in its history as it reached the maximum 60,000.
Real Betis has also managed a 98% renewal rate while boasting a waiting list of more than 11,000 fans.
“The figures for the membership campaign have once again been extraordinary,” said the club’s chief executive Ramón Alarcón.
“Almost 99% of season ticket-holders have renewed their card and that shows the loyalty of our people, who continue to be committed to their team. For another year we will once again be one of the clubs with the most spectators in its stands and that is always a reason for pride.”
Real Sociedad, Albacete, Levante UD, Deportivo Alavés, CD Leganés, Valladolid CF, Elche CF, CD Tenerife, and RCD Espanyol have all also reported high renewal rates.
