The switch from physical entry was implemented prior to the beginning of last season in a bid to enhance the matchday experience for supporters.
Now the club is set to do the same with season tickets for the upcoming campaign.
“Ahead of 2024-25, the club is continuing to support fans in making the transition from cards to digital season tickets, with more than 3,000 supporters already making the switch ahead of the new campaign,” read a statement from the EFL Championship club.
“A support workshop for fans interested in learning more about digital ticketing will be running from 11am to 3pm on Wednesday 24 July in Quinn’s Sports Bar.
“The club has also partnered with a new card fulfilment partner and all cards will now be NFC enabled to improve security after several incidents whereby cards were stolen, or barcodes were copied.
“To ensure all new cards could be produced and tested prior to the start of the season, a deadline to request a digital alternative was set and this has now passed.
“Although many clubs attach a cost for cards, these have once again been provided to Sunderland supporters free of charge where fans have a genuine need for an alternative.”
All digital season tickets are set to be distributed to fans from July 18, with cards then due to be sent out on July 29.
Sunderland will be playing in the second division of English football for the third consecutive season in 2024-25 after finishing 16th last season.
