With the 2024-25 La Liga season due to begin on August 15, 16 clubs have opted to once again back an initiative that regulates the price of tickets for away team fans.
The agreement sees clubs commit to offering a fixed minimum quota of 300 tickets at a maximum price of €30 (£25/$32). It was first introduced during the 2023-24 season, and has been well received.
“We are proud to announce the second season of away stands,” said Víctor Martín, head of the cabinet of the president of LaLiga.
“The response from clubs and fans has been very good in the first edition and we are confident that this year we will once again reach record numbers by helping fans.”
The clubs involved include FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, and Valencia.
Espanyol, Rayo Vallecano, Real Madrid, and Villarreal are the four opting not to join the initiative.
It aims to encourage fans to follow their teams to away matches and the tickets will be available to purchase through the usual ticketing channels of the clubs.
“The Visiting Stand agreement will happen this season after the success of last season, when nearly 60,000 tickets were purchased by fans for the 271 matches played. The average price of these tickets was €29,” read a La Liga statement.
“In the 2023-24 season, the fan groups that bought the most tickets were those of Real Betis (5,918), Sevilla FC (5,101), Atlético de Madrid (5,032), Athletic Club (4,870) and UD Las Palmas (4,752). In total, there was a displacement of visiting fans in 98.5% of the matches.”
