The Fiji Football Association (FFA) is set to implement online ticketing for its future operations after experiencing success with its Battle of the Giants tournament.

The competition saw eight domestic teams play from July 28 to August 4 at HFC Bank Stadium in capital city Suva.

Ticket prices ranged from FJD5 (£1.75/$2.20/€2) to FJD20 and were available from an online platform which aimed to make the purchasing process more convenient and accessible.

“This time we had a new ticketing system that was online ticketing,” said FFA sales and marketing manager Anushil Kumar.

“And I would say it was a success. We received a lot of positive feedback because people were able to secure their tickets from the comfort of their homes or wherever without them rushing to our office to buy the tickets.”

Kumar stated that the transition to online ticketing was a major step forward for the association.

The FFA enlisted the Fijian arm of ticketing company Ticketmate to carry out the operation.

“This move towards digital ticketing reflects the growing trend of leveraging technology to improve fan engagement and streamline event management,” read an FFA statement.

The Battle of the Giants tournament has taken place annually except for 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and 1987 because of the unsuccessful coups d’état.

This year’s edition saw Lautoka FC beat Nadi FC 2-0.
