Viagogo is reportedly vying to secure a resale partnership with the Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028.
According to an article from the Financial Times, Viagogo had begun conversations with the organisers before the end of the Paris 2024 Games, which concluded on Sunday.
LA-headquartered ticketing company AXS and Germany’s CTS Eventim have already been chosen as the official service providers for LA28. Tickets will also be sold through LA28’s own website.
CTS Eventim was chosen because of its experience with providing technology management solutions to previous Games, including Paris 2024.
Viagogo’s global managing director Cris Miller told the Financial Times that LA28 organisers were already talking to the company and many other secondary marketplaces to aid resale.
“We’re actually in active conversations with [The LA Olympics committee] about providing our service, along with other ticketing companies, to try to participate and help,” Miller told the newspaper.
“The last thing that LA wants is empty seats.”
The LA 2028 Olympics Committee told the Financial Times that it had not released details on secondary ticketing or potential partners.
With the 2024 Paralympics still to come in the French capital, Paris 2024 organisers revealed that a record 9.5 million tickets had been sold for the Olympic Games. However, only 1.3 million of 2.3 million tickets have been sold for the Paralympics, which will begin on August 28 and run until September 8.
