Live Nation-owned Colombian concert promoter OCESA has announced plans for the creation of the Distrito Verde (Green District), a new entertainment space in Bogotá.
The event space will have a capacity of 40,000 and will occupy a 24-hectare space in the Colombian capital’s Ciudad Salitre, a mixed-use area.
OCESA said the new complex will host events such as food fairs and art exhibitions, along with sports and live concerts. It will also have a focus on environmental sustainability.
“Distrito Verde is the result of the vision of the growth of the live entertainment industry in Colombia, enabling a multipurpose space that combines the environmental recovery of a piece of land with the versatility and adaptation of that space to host concerts, exhibitions and gastronomic festivals, among others,” Luz Ángela Castro, chief executive of OCESA Colombia, told La Republica.
For concerts, the Distrito Verde will incorporate a multipurpose event area with modular seating, and a large pavilion with a 5,800 capacity for exhibitions, cultural and corporate events. A ‘green area’ will be used for culinary events, open-air museums and festivals.
“The Green District offers an innovative and versatile cultural offering, combining open-air green spaces with covered areas,” added Castro.
“It adapts to various event formats, allowing more than 40,000 people to enjoy culture. It will activate a green space that has been unused for 50 years in a central area of the city, protecting and recovering environmental assets and integrating them into a vibrant space full of social, cultural and recreational opportunities.”
