Taylor Swift has broken a Wembley Stadium record, becoming the first solo act to play eight concerts at the London venue, overtaking Michael Jackson and his Bad Tour in 1988.
The singer wrapped up the European leg of the Eras Tour, and welcomed Florence + The Machine as well as Bleachers frontman and long-time collaborator Jack Antonoff on stage.
“You just made me the first solo artist to ever play Wembley eight times in a single tour. We will never, ever be able to thank you enough for it,” Swift told fans, as per the BBC.
Additionally, Swift’s eighth show at Wembley saw her equal the overall record for the most nights at the venue during a single tour, which was set by Take That and their Progress Tour in 2011.
The Wembley and European finale was Swift’s 131st date on the Eras Tour.
According to the London Mayor’s office, Swift’s eight Eras Tour dates were set to generate £300m (€352m/$391m) for the English capital’s economy. She played the first three London dates in June, before returning this month to perform a further five shows – with eight marking the most nights for any location on the tour.
Leading up to the Wembley dates, management warned ticketless ‘Swifties’ not to gather outside of the stadium. It has become a trend for fans to gather where Swift is playing even if they cannot get into the concert.
Ticketless fans were asked not to attend after the Vienna dates were cancelled following a foiled terror plot.
