The opening day of the 2024 US Open drew the largest single-day crowd in the event’s history, with 74,641 fans entering the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Additionally, the day-session crowd of 42,886 was the second-highest day-session attendance in history, while the night-session total of 31,775 set an all-time night-session record.

The tennis grand slam will run until September 9 in Queens, New York.

Attendance records had been smashed even before the first ball of the main draw. During the first seven-day US Open Fan Week, some 216,029 fans visited the venue. The figure represented a 37% increase over 2023.

The fan-focused week features free tennis matches and entertainment on the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, helping to grow the US Open Qualifying Tournament into a real sporting festival.

In June, organisers of the US Open reported increased early demand for tickets for the 2024 edition following the launch of the general sale. Within the first hour, public ticket sales had doubled 2023’s total during the same time frame.

The US Open’s pre-sale week also saw its day one sales grow 65% year-over-year.
