How Oasis are attempting to beat the ticket touts

With the news confirmed that Oasis are reuniting for a tour of the UK and Ireland next year, there is inevitably going to be a lot of interest over ticket sales.

Liam and Noel Gallagher have seemingly set their differences aside to perform at stadiums across London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester and Dublin. The reunion tour currently consists of 14 dates in 2025.

Ahead of the general sale, there will be a pre-sale ballot which will take place on Friday (August 30). Registration for the ballot is already open and will close later today (Wednesday) at 19:00 BST.

To enter the ballot, fans must fill out their contact details, where they are located, answer how many times they have seen the band previously, and answer a general knowledge question about Oasis. This is then followed by a question asking where the fan would like to see the band play.

The technology behind the questions is powered by Openstage, a fan engagement platform built especially for the music industry that enables the capture of fan data.

Successful ballot entrants will receive a code from ‘oasismynet’ on Friday by 12:00 BST. Success in the ballot will not guarantee tickets, as these will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The general sale will then begin on Saturday at 09:00 BST, and an hour earlier in Ireland.

Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster, Gigs and Tours and See Tickets. Ticket sales will be limited to four per household.

If fans can no longer attend the Oasis concerts, they will be able to resell their tickets through Twickets or Ticketmaster Fan-to-Fan.

Additionally, the new Oasis website stated that “any tickets listed on unauthorised resale sites may not be genuine and, in line with the terms and conditions, promoters will cancel any tickets found listed”.

Ticket resale is permitted at no more than the price originally paid.

The terms and conditions also said that all ticket sales data will be manually forensically examined and any use of bots, multiple identities, false identities, or other fraudulent means of acquiring tickets may be reported to the relevant authorities. The promoters also have the right to change the ticket delivery to box office collection to examine government-issued photographic ID in the name of the person who booked the tickets, in order to further deter touts.
