Blockchain-based ticketing platform Tixbase has partnered with Turkish ticketing company Passo in a new five-year deal.
The aim of the collaboration is to enhance security and transparency, and build a seamless experience for consumers and event organisers, while also helping to regulate the secondary market.
Passo exclusively manages ticket sales for 38 teams within the Turkish Super League and TFF First League. Additionally, it serves as the official ticketing company for the Turkish national football team, the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and the Turkish Cup. Passo sells roughly 25 million tickets annually.
“We are excited to partner with Passo, a visionary leader in the Turkish ticketing industry. This is the largest deal signed to date for any blockchain ticketing company, proving the value of our technology and paving the way for global adoption of Tixbase’s novel solution that benefits all participants in the ticketing ecosystem,” said Emil R. Ljesnjanin, founder and chief executive of Tixbase.
Tixbase has a new blockchain in the form of TixChain, an Avalanche Layer 1. This blockchain has been designed specifically for ticketing, and Tixbase will integrate this technology with Passo’s network to ensure each ticket is uniquely verified. The blockchain’s unchangeable records provide transparency and traceability, helping to reduce fraud risks.
Additionally, a key feature of the partnership is the regulation of the secondary ticketing market, as blockchain technology helps to monitor secure resale and the transfer of tickets.
Tixbase’s approach includes issuing NFT (Non-Fungible Token) versions of tickets, turning them into collectible digital assets. These NFTs provide fans with unique memorabilia that can be kept, traded, or sold. They also serve as gateways to exclusive content, merchandise and experiences, enhancing fan engagement and loyalty.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Tixbase, a pioneer in blockchain ticketing technology. Their innovative solution perfectly complements our commitment to creating a state-of-the-art ticketing platform that protects our fans and delivers exceptional results,” added Atil Aykar, general manager of Passo.
