Spanish LaLiga football club Girona FC has implemented a new NFC (Near Field Communication) contactless access system at the 14,624-capacity Estadi Montilivi (pictured).
The club will launch the system this season, with the aim of improving the matchday experience for fans and the speed of access for season ticket-holders.
Through Girona’s official app, season ticket-holders will have the option to add their passes to the wallet, which is available to download on iOS and Android devices. To access Montilivi, users need to present the mobile device at the turnstiles, tap and go.
Season ticket-holders will only need to add their pass to the wallet once, where it will remain. The NFC season ticket is considered much faster to read at the turnstiles than the current system that relies on scanning a QR code.
“With this initiative, Girona FC reinforces its commitment to innovation, the transformation of fan relations processes and the convenience of its fans, continually improving the experience of attending matches at Montilivi,” the club said in a statement.
Girona is currently seventh in the top tier of Spanish men’s football, and will next face Sevilla on Sunday at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
