Eventim UK managing director Martin Fitzgerald is calling time on his ticketing career after more than three decades.

Fitzgerald began his career in 1992 as a contact centre manager for Ticketmaster after graduating from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a degree in social policy and administration. He stayed there for over eight years before moving See Tickets at which he gave 18 years of service as chief commercial officer, head of business development, and general manager.

In March 2021, Fitzgerald moved to Eventim UK as managing director where he would see out his career.

“After 31 years I have decided to call time on my career in Ticketing,” Fitzgerald wrote on social media.

“Before I move on to what’s next, I’d like to extend my gratitude to a whole host of people.

“Firstly, my current colleagues at Eventim, where I have spent a wonderful three and a half years. They have truly provided a welcoming and supportive environment and their dedication and professionalism is second to none. I’ve made friends for life here and wish everyone the very best for the future. I know they will continue to go from strength to strength.

“Secondly, the very many colleagues and clients I have worked with through the years. It really has been an incredible industry to work in and having started in the Ticketmaster Call Centre at £3 per hour it really is testament to the industry that it provides so many opportunities for people to grow. I hope it continues to do that and new entrants to the industry get as much enjoyment, for as long as I have.”

Fitzgerald is not leaving the working world completely. He now turns his attention to the making of a film that he is involved in.

“Anyone who has known me for more than an hour knows my real passion is writing,” Fitzgerald wrote.

“That received an outlet in 2017 when I wrote [my] first book and, as a result of that, I was asked to write a film. I’m now very pleased to announce that the film is in pre-production and shooting starts this November in London, Scotland, & Rome.

“So, in short, I’m off to follow my passion and hopefully write more, something I’m extremely excited about.

“In the future I may dip in with the odd bit of consultancy but, for now, it very much is goodbye and thank you.”

The book in question is Ruth and Martin’s Album Club which features famous people reviewing an album they had never heard before.
