Kilimanjaro Live is to presenting a series of live performances to coincide with this year’s National Album Day in the UK.
Kilimanjaro Live has been named official live partner and will host concerts throughout the celebration month surrounding National Album Day on Saturday, October 19.
With this year’s theme being Great British Groups, Kilimanjaro Live will offer gigs featuring the likes of New Model Army, Sea Girls and Cat Burns. On National Album Day itself, The Pretenders will be taking to the stage in Hull as part of their UK tour.
“Kilimanjaro Live will help National Album Day bring the excitement of live album moments to life,” organisers said. “Kilimanjaro Live sees album tracks transform from their studio format into unprecedented musical moments. Live performances are where album tracks magically transform into indelible memories, forging unique connections between artists and audiences at each moment in time.”
What is National Album Day?
National Album Day is presented in association with official broadcast partner BBC Radio 2. It is organised jointly by the BPI – the UK association of record companies and independent labels (BRIT Awards and Mercury Prize) – and ERA, the digital entertainment and retail association (Record Store Day).
Since its launch in 2018, National Album Day has been supported by a broad range of artist champions, including Kylie Minogue, Lewis Capaldi, Mark Ronson and Alice Cooper.
Stuart Galbraith, chief executive of Kilimanjaro Live said: “Kilimanjaro Live are honoured and delighted to become the official live partner for National Album Day.
“Nothing compares to the absolute exhilaration between audience and artist when they share an album together during a live performance – that’s when you see the true magic of the album spark into an everlasting memory through the wonder of live. Through this union of Kilimanjaro Live and National Album Day, we aim to open up the sharing-moment of the album across many live shows in the future.”
