Lost Lands festival in Ohio has banned pyrotechnics, open flames, smoking and all flame effects due to a severe drought throughout the US state.
The State Fire Marshal enforced the ban at the electronic music festival which is due to take place in Legend Valley from tomorrow until Sunday (September 20 to 22).
It means that there will not be any firework displays which have come to be a hallmark of the festival.
Attendees are also affected as smoking is prohibited, although vaporizers are allowed, and any form of outdoor cooking with an open flame is also off limits.
Food vendors will also have to abide by strict rules.
“The Fire Marshal Order allows our food vendors to operate after meeting the requirements such as water trucks stationed nearby, gravel flooring, and increased monitoring throughout the event in addition to the vendor’s fire extinguisher,” read a statement from the festival’s organisers.
“We’re disappointed by the situation the drought has put us in and wish this weren’t the case. While the environment is out of our control, we’re looking forward to putting on a fantastic festival for you. We’re excited to welcome you all in just a few days.”
The festival’s campgrounds opened on Tuesday of this week prior to the first performances.
Artists such as Wiley, Boogie T, and Alix Perez are all set to take to the stage.
Lost Lands has been impacted by the recent and sudden shut down of Lyte, which was due to carry out the festival’s ticketing operations.
